MAINTENANCE
This section provides basic information about how to care for the digital multimeter and replace the
battery and fuses.
WARNING!
Do not attempt to repair or service the digital multimeter unless you are qualified to do so and
have the relevant equipment for testing and calibration and other service information. To protect against
electric shock, never allow water to enter the casing.
General care
Wipe the outside of the instrument regularly with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not use
solvents or abrasive products for cleaning.
Clean the terminals with a cotton swab slightly dampened with a mild detergent as dirt and
moisture can produce inaccurate readings.
Turn off the multimeter after use and remove the battery if you are not going to use the instrument
for a longer period of time.
Do not store the instrument at high temperatures, high air humidity or around strong magnetic
fields.
Changing the batteries
WARNING!
To avoid false readings, which could lead to possible electric shock or personal injury,
replace the battery as soon as
is displayed.
Replace the battery as follows:
1.
Turn off the multimeter.
2.
Remove the screw from the base of the case and separate the base from the top.
3.
Remove the old battery.
4.
Replace with a new 12V battery (A23).
5.
Fit the base and top together again and tighten the screw.
Changing the fuse
WARNING!
ONLY
use specified fuses according to the following procedure to protect against electric
shock and arc flash, which can cause injury and damage to the multimeter:
1.
Turn off the multimeter.
2.
Remove the screw from the base of the case and separate the base from the top.
3.
Remove the fuse by carefully prying one end loose. Then remove the fuse from the bracket.
4. Install
ONLY
replacement fuses of the identical type and specification as follows. Make sure the
fuse is firmly fitted into the bracket
.
5.
Fuse: Fast blow fuse, 0.2A/250V,
Φ
5 x 20 mm.
6.
Fit the base and top together again and tighten the screw.
Replacement of fuses is seldom necessary. A burnt fuse is always the result of incorrect operation.
