Z2C Installation and Operation Manual
Interoperability nets:
Icons placed in the Net Area create interoperability nets, which act
like conference calls. When more than one icon is in a net, and an icon receives incoming
audio (has active COR), that audio is retransmitted by all other members of the net (they have
active PTT).
Half-duplex devices:
Most radios, and subsequently their configured channels on
interoperability devices, are half-duplex, meaning that they cannot simultaneously transmit
and receive audio. Therefore, once such an icon has active COR, that module “has the floor”
and no other icon can break in until that first icon’s COR status changes back to inactive. See
next item for possible exceptions.
Audio priority:
If an icon in the net has been configured to have a higher priority level than
the icon that currently has the floor (that is, the icon with Active COR whose audio is being
retransmitted by all other icons) and that other icon is configured to “Suppress Other Audio”
then this other icon will take over the floor if it experiences Active COR.
Moving icons between and out of nets:
Individual icons that are currently members of a net
can be dragged and dropped out of a net and into another existing net or returned to the
Resources Area. The right click option “Remove from Nets” also returns an icon to the
Resources Area.
Net eraser and trash can symbols:
Use the eraser symbol to move all icons out of the net
and back to the Resources Area. At this point you can use the trash can symbol to eliminate
the net altogether.
Net Area, Dispatch Area, and Monitors Area operations are distinct:
Icons can be located
in more than one of these areas at the same time and audio does not retransmit through to
other icons not in an area. E.g. A Dispatcher is in two-way communication with Radio A.
Radio A is also in net 1 with Radio B and Radio C. When the dispatcher speaks to Radio A,
Radios B and C do not hear it because the Dispatch Area and the Net Area are distinct.
Likewise, when Radios B and C talk, the Dispatcher does not hear it through Radio A.
Dragging an icon from a net into Dispatch Area:
If an icon is dragged from a net into the
Dispatch Area, it remains in the net and is now simultaneously operating in both areas.
Removing an icon from the Dispatch Area and a net:
If an icon is in both the Dispatch
Area and a net, and is removed from one of these areas, it remains in the other. Removing an
icon from both areas requires two operations.
Recording a net:
If enabled, each net provides the option to select a Recorder channel as
well as to start and stop recording of audio communications in that net.
6.3.5
Monitors Area
The following information is repeated from Section 6.2.4
, where it includes example
channel icons in Dispatch, Nets, and Monitors positions.
There is no transitive audio propagation caused by monitoring configuration.
•
Thus, if channel A is monitoring channel B, and channel B is monitoring channel C,
channel A does not hear the audio from channel C. Likewise, if channel A is monitoring
