I
nstalling and Operating the ESUSA Repeater
INTRODUCTION
The ESUSA Repeater is an unintelligent
router used solely for passing information
and adding length to an existing L
ON
W
ORKS
network. It will not filter network packets.

INSTALLATION
The repeater connects to the L
ON
W
ORKS
network via a suitable network cable. The
repeater is powered by a separate power
supply. See Wiring Recommendations.
Wiring
WARNING - TO PREVENT
ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR DAMAGE
TO THE EQUIPMENT, YOU MUST
DISCONNECT THE POWER
SUPPLY TO THE REPEATER BEFORE YOU
MAKE THE WIRING CONNECTIONS.
All wiring is low voltage and should be in
accordance with local regulations and the
National Electrical Code.
Use shielded cable only when it is required.
Most applications do not require shielding
and will benefit from unshielded cable.

When using the optional shielded cable,
ground only one end of the shield. Low
voltage control wiring should not be run in
the same conduit as line voltage wiring or
other conductors that supply highly-
inductive loads (such as contactors, coils,
motors, generators, etc.).
CAUTION - MAKE ALL CONNEC-
TIONS AND CHECK ALL CON-
NECTIONS BEFORE APPLYING
POWER. IMPROPER WIRING
MAY CAUSE PERMANENT
DAMAGE TO THIS EQUIPMENT.

To Wire the Repeater:
The terminal block slides into the slot on the
right side of the board. Refer to Figure 2.
1
. Orient the terminal block as if you will
mount it on the board.
2
. Wire the two Net A wires in the top
two positions of the terminal block.
3
. Connect the ground wire via the third
screw on the terminal block.
4
. Connect the 24VAC hot wire to the
forth terminal screw.
5
. Wire the two Net B wires into the
bottom two positions of the terminal
block.
NOTE: Network wiring is polarity inde-
pendent, but the drawing indicates
Net - and Net + to accommodate the
conventions of circuitry design.
