Operation

The  needle  scaler  must  be

properly  lubricated  before  operation.  See
“Lubrication” section.

Figure 1

1.

Rotate knurled collar until ball is aligned with
hole in collar.

2.

Insert  needle  shank  into  cylinder,  aligning
notch in shank with ball.

3.

Rotate  knurled  collar  180-degrees  in  either
direction to secure needle shank.

4.

Install spring, needles and flange.

5.

Slide  needle  cover  assembly  onto  cylinder,
pushing  according  to  amount  of  spring
tension  desired.  Secure  needle  cover  in
position  by  tightening  screw  with  provided
wrench.

6.

Remove protective cap from air inlet (Figure
1). If an in-line oiler is not being used, add 4
or 5 drops of air tool oil (not included) into the
air inlet.

7.

Blow  out  air  line  to  remove  any  dirt  or
moisture,  then  connect  air  supply  hose  to
tool. Set air pressure to 90 psi.

IMPORTANT:

  Connecting  a  quick-change

coupling  directly  to  the  tool  is  not
recommended,  as  vibration  may  cause  the
connection to fail. Instead, add a leader hose
and  install  any  quick-change  couplings
farther down the line.

Note:  For  best  results,  prepare  work  surface  by
removing  any  oil,  grease,  or  dirt  before  using
needle scaler. Clean only 6 to 8 inches of surface
area at one time, and make 2 or 3 passes.

8.

Hold needle scaler firmly with both hands, at
approximately  45  degree  angle  from  work
surface.

9.

Place needles upon work surface and press
throttle lever. Pressure against throttle lever
determines  speed  of  tool.  Do  not  exert
excessive  pressure  against  work  surface  –
let the tool do the work.

10.  Release throttle lever to stop needle scaler.

The  needles may  be  replaced  with  the  provided
chisel.  Reverse  steps  1  through  5  above,  and
install  the  chisel  shank  into  the  cylinder.  Rotate
knurled collar 180-degrees to secure chisel.
