Substrate Heater
Intended use
The product is designed exclusively as a substrate heater in an aquarium. The product is to be used
indoors only. The product is intended for private use only and is not suitable for commercial use.
Only use the product as described in this user manual. Any other use is considered improper and may
result in property damage or even personal injury. The product is not a toy.
Safety notice
Electric current - danger! Danger of fatal electric shock!
• After installing the product, check its structure.
• If the supply line of the substrate heater (4a) is directly connected to the mains this will
result in the immediate destruction of the product and an acute fire hazard and danger to
life!
• Disconnect the product from the mains before installation, maintenance, cleaning and
repair work.
• In case of damaged components or lines, disconnect the product from the power supply.
• Do not roll up the supply lines (4a)! A strong heat development can result.
• Do not position the switching power supply unit next to heat sources.
• Do not repair the product yourself, but have it repaired by an authorised specialist or sent
to JBL GmbH & Co. KG for inspection.
• The heating wire (4c) operates with a protective extra-low voltage of 24 V and may only
be operated in conjunction with the switching power supply unit (2) supplied.
• Do not immerse the switching power supply unit (2) or bring it into contact with water.
• The power supply cable (1) of the switching power supply unit (2) and the supply line of
the substrate heater (4a) leading out of the aquarium should form a “drip loop”, which
prevents water from getting into the socket or the switching power supply unit (2).
• This device can be used under supervision by children over 8 years of age and by people
with physical, sensory or mental impairments, as well as inexperienced people. For this
purpose, they should have received an introduction to the operation of the device and be
aware of the dangers of its use.
