SECTION 8-PLUMBING SYSTEMS JAYCO TOWABLE
1.
Turn water heater gas valve OFF (if so equipped). (located outside recreation
vehicle). Turn water heater power OFF (both switches Electric and LP Gas)
2.
Since you are not putting antifreeze into the water lines with this method, open valves
A&B on the water heater, valve C should be closed.
3.
Make sure all holding tanks are empty and all drain valves OPEN.
4.
Run the water pump until it is dry, this will take approximately 15-20 seconds.
5.
OPEN all faucets and drains, including outside shower faucets (if so equipped).
6.
Use an air hose and blow out plug (customer supplied), blow air through the City
Water connection. Set the city water / tank fill valve to the city water position
(vertical). Any remaining water will blow out in five to ten minutes.
7.
Pour one cup of non-toxic RV antifreeze into all sink drain P-traps.
Winterizing with antifreeze:
It may be easier to winterize the RV with another person to assist you.
NOTE
: Antifreeze should
never
enter the hot water heater or the water filter.

Turn water heater gas valve OFF (if so equipped). (located outside recreation
vehicle). Turn power to the water heater OFF. (both Electric and LP Gas switches)
2.
Level the recreation vehicle and drain the fresh water plumbing system. (See
Draining the Fresh Water System
)
3.
Replace the water filter cartridge (if so equipped) with the plastic bypass hose. Water
heater (if so equipped) should now be empty after performing Step 2. Water heater
bypass valves A&B should still be closed, valve C open. (Refer to
Water Heater
Bypass
section)
4.
Make sure the “fresh water tank drain” and “low point drains” are all closed. Low
point drains are located inside the basement access cover for hot and cold water lines.
5.
Open the basement access cover to locate the (4) water valves and set them to
winterize lines
: (Refer to the
6 in 1 Utility Center
section).

V1 is ON
•
V2 is OFF
•
V3 is OFF
•
V4 is ON
6.
Place the end of the clear plastic hose into a container of RV antifreeze.
7.
Turn the water pump switch ON. Antifreeze will be drawn into the water lines. To
aid in siphoning, place the container of antifreeze on a flat surface 2 feet above the
ground.
8.
Open the hot water faucets, including outside shower (if so equipped) until RV
antifreeze begins to flow continuously.
9.
Close the hot water line faucets and outside shower (if so equipped) and repeat with
the cold water line faucets. (If equipped with a regular RV toilet, hold open the lever
on the toilet until antifreeze runs into the bowl).
When you are done adding RV antifreeze:

Turn the water pump OFF. Turn valve V1 OFF. Remove the plastic hose from the
container.
11.
Pour 1 cup of RV antifreeze into all sink drain P-traps.
12.
To prevent staining, wipe the RV antifreeze out of the sinks, shower (or tub) and
toilet using a soft, dry cloth.
