There are two different sized magnets included – a narrow magnet and a wide magnet. The wide magnet is stronger than the narrow magnet. The magnet can be positioned on the edge of the
frame or on the surface, and should align with the edge of the sensor. They both offer a discrete appearance.

Preparing the sensor for installation
The Smart Door/Window Sensor is designed for indoor use only. Installation of the sensor consists of two parts – the sensor and the magnet. The sensor mounts onto the door or window,
and the magnet mounts to the door frame or window frame. Use only one magnet.
The sensor has two internal detection contacts – vertical or horizontal. This allows for installing on left-opening or right-opening doors, or for vertically-opening or horizontally-opening windows.
Adding your sensor in a Z-Wave network
The door/window sensor can be added to the Z-Wave network manually. For best results, add the sensor to the network near the intended location
(same room or area) to ensure best communication routes are established.
Manual mode
1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add the sensor in the Z-Wave network.
2. Once the controller is ready to add your sensor, ensure battery is installed with the correct polarity in the sensor and the battery tab has
been removed.
3. Press and release the programming button (see Figure 2). This starts the manual add process. The red LED (see Figure 2) will begin to
flash quickly as it begins the add process.
4. The red LED will activate for 3 seconds to confirm the sensor has been added in the network.
5. The controller’s app will indicate if it has discovered the sensor. If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR
code/security number on the back of the box, or the QR code label on the product (see Figure 3). Enter the 5-digit code.
Note: Your controller may need to be within 10ft. of the sensor to be added.
Using the controller, you can activate interactive automations when the sensor detects when a door or window is opened or closed.
Functions may vary depending on gateway or controller.
Note: SmartStart enabled products can be added into a Z-Wave network by scanning the QR code on the product
with a controller providing SmartStart inclusion. No further action is required and the SmartStart product will be
added automatically within 10 minutes of being switched on in the network vicinity.
To remove the sensor from the Z-Wave network
1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to remove the sensor from the Z-Wave network.
2. Once the controller is ready to remove your sensor, press and release the programming button on the sensor
1 time to remove it from the network (see Figure 4).
3. The red LED will blink 5 times to indicate it has been removed.
To disable the LED when the sensor is triggered
1. Quickly press the programming button 3 times, then press and hold the programming button 1 time.
When successful, the LED will blink 2 times.
2. To revert the LED back to its default ON setting, repeat the same button press sequence in the step above.
When successful, the LED will blink 1 time.
To return the sensor to factory defaults (will also remove sensor from the Z-Wave network)
1. Press the programming button 10 times within 6 seconds (interval between presses of the button cannot be
longer than 1 second).
2. The red LED will activate for 2 seconds, followed by 3 quick flashes.
Note: This should only be done in the event your network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
To replace battery
1. Slide battery door down and remove, or if mounted, slide up and off from battery door.
2. Place sensor on flat surface. While holding secure, press down on lower edge of battery with pen
(see Figure 4). This should lift the upper end of battery.
3. When installing new battery, ensure proper polarity (plus side is up). Insert lower end first so battery
is installed under side ribs (see Figure 5). Press down on upper end to secure battery in place.

Z-WAVE INTEROPERABILITY
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave
certified devices from other manufacturers and/or other applications. All non-battery
operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to
increase reliability of the network.

Installation
Locate the double-sided tape for the back of the sensor (battery door). Peel and remove the paper backing from one
side of the tape and apply to the back of the battery door.
Before mounting the sensor, clean and dry the mounting surface of the door or window. Carefully position the
sensor on the door or window and apply firm pressure to secure sensor. The magnets already have double-sided
tape attached. Remove the paper backing of the selected magnet. Carefully align with edge of sensor and position
magnet within gap distance. When installing on windows, there may not be any gap distance. After completing
installation, slide sensor up and off from battery door. Sensor is ready to add to the Z-Wave network.
The gap distance between the magnet and the sensor will determine which magnet is used (see diagram). Position the magnet to align with the edge of the sensor. The narrow magnet
has a maximum gap distance of 1/2in. The wide magnet has a maximum gap distance of 1in.

The top cover of the sensor is paintable or removeable. It can be replaced with color-match covers in black, brown or
red (sold separately). To remove the top cover, slide sensor off the battery door (if mounted) or simply remove battery
door. Insert small, flat screwdriver into side hold and gently pry apart. Snap on the new cover.
