8. Clearance between the Needle and
Looper
The clearance between the tip of the looper and scarf of
the attached needle (Schmetz ELx705, size 80/12)
should be 0 to 0.05 mm.

Remove the free arm cover (see page 4) and
needle plate.

Turn the handwheel toward you until the looper
point

comes behind the needle.

Loosen the setscrews

and thrust the front needle
guard

against the needle to make 0 to 0.05 mm
clearance between the needle and tip of the looper.

Tighten the setscrews

and check the clearance.

Attach the free arm cover and needle plate.
