Functions
A tourbillon is a mechanical device consisting of a carriage
containing the watch’s regulating system and performing one
complete revolution in one minute. It is designed to improve
the accuracy of mechanical watches by offsetting disturbances
of the balance wheel isochronism due to terrestrial gravity.
The Master Tourbillon watch model combines the tourbillon
device with the dual time‑zone function. It allows you to set a
different hour on the main display simply by using the crown,
without losing the accuracy of the minute and seconds hands,
and while preserving a reference time on the dial located at
12 o’clock.
This function is useful when travelling, for example, to
display the new local time on the main dial while keeping
the indication of the time in the country of origin on the
secondary reference display (subdial at 12 o’clock).
When you return to the time zone of your country of origin,
simply set the time in that place again on the main dial. The
subdial located at 12 o’clock also allows simultaneous display
of a second time zone of your choice.
The watch thus offers the following functions :
‑ Local time adjusted rapidly and independently in both
directions (travel time zone), on the main dial.
‑ Date synchronised with local time; can be changed in both
directions.
‑ Reference time over 24 hours (displayed on the subdial
located at 12 o’clock).
‑ Minutes.
‑ Tourbillon with seconds (hand on the tourbillon
mechanism).
Use
The crown of the Master Tourbillon watch enables you to :
‑ Wind the watch if it has not been worn for more
than 48 hours.
‑ Set the local time (travel time zone) and date,
in position 2.
‑ Set the reference time in position 3.
Starting the watch
Pull the crown out to position 1.
A few clockwise turns of the crown are enough to set the
watch running. It is then automatically wound when you wear
it. Kindly note that the crown does not lock when winding,
even when the watch is fully wound.
Setting the reference time (24‑hour subdial,
located at 12 o’clock) and minutes
This setting drives all functions : reference time, local time,
minutes and date. First, it enables the reference time to be set
(on the 24‑hour subdial located at 12 o’clock, hence taking
into account day and night), along with the minutes.
Pull the crown out to position 3.
Move the reference time hand and the minute hand forward,
in either direction, until the desired time. Push the crown back
to position 1. Note
During handling, the local time hand (like the date) is
automatically driven and maintains its difference in relation to
the reference time. Setting of the local time and the date is
performed as explained below.
Setting the local time (main display) and the date
The local time and the date are adjusted with the crown in
position 2, which you can turn in either direction. The main
hour hand and the date are driven by your operations in the
chosen direction.
The hour hand moves in 1‑hour jumps.The minutes and small
seconds continue to operate during this adjustment, thereby
maintaining the precision of the watch.
The date scale, logically numbered from 1 to 31, appears on
the circumference of the dial.The hand tipped with a double
triangle indicates the current date.A special feature of the
date scale is that it is interrupted on the 15
th
day on one side
of the tourbillon, resuming on the 16
th
day on the other side.
On the 15
th
day of each month, at midnight, the hand goes
from 15 to 16 at very high speed, i.e. in slightly less than 4
hours.
