Setting the date (fast action)
Crown A
Turn the compression key to the «open» position in the
direction of the arrow.
Then pull crown A out to position 2.
Move the date forward by turning the crown counterclockwise.
Perform the required number of turns until the desired date
is displayed.
Note : date correction should not be performed between
10.30 pm and 3.30 am. During that period the automatic
date-change mechanism is already in action.
When the operation is completed, push the crown back to
position 1 and turn the compression key to the «closed»
position in the direction of the arrows.
Chronograph operation
The central seconds hand on the Master Compressor
Chronograph displays the chronograph seconds to the
nearest eighth of a second. A counter located at 3 o’clock
totals the minutes up to 30 minutes (after one turn it
continues to count another 30 minutes). Another counter
located at 9 o’clock totals the hours up to 12 hours (after
one turn it continues to count another 12 hours).
- Pushpiece at 2 o’clock : this pushpiece enables the
chronograph function to be started and stopped.
- Pushpiece at 4 o’clock : this pushpiece resets the counters
and the central seconds hand. When timing is in progress, a
press on this pushpiece has no effect.
Each of these two pushpieces is fitted with a patented wingnut
with compression system. This permits strong compression of
one of the three pushpiece seals, ensuring optimum water
resistance.
Another benefit of this system is that it enables operation
of the pushpieces to be locked in the closed position, thus
preventing any unintentional handling of the chronograph.
To be able to use the chronograph functions, move the
pushpieces into the «open» position by turning the wing-
nuts a quarter of a turn downward. The non-compressed seal
position («open») is then indicated by a red arrow (front
view of watch).
Timing
- Pressing once on the pushpiece at 2 o’clock activates
the chronograph. The central seconds hand turns and
the minute and hour totaliser counters are in operation.
A second press on the pushpiece at 2 o’clock stops the
chronograph and enables reading of the time measured.
- Reset by pressing the pushpiece at 4 o’clock to be ready to
perform another timing operation.
- It is possible add up several timing operations by pressing
again on the pushpiece at 2 o’clock (without having to
reset the counters). Timing starts again and is added to the
previous measurement.
When the timing operation is completed, move the
pushpieces into the compressed seal position («closed»)
by turning the wing-nuts a quarter of a turn upward, in the
direction shown by the red arrow.
The tachometer on the fixed inner bezel ring
The tachometer is an instrument for measuring speed. The
inner bezel ring on the Master Compressor Chronograph is
equipped with a scale which enables the speed to be read
in km/h, using the seconds hand between two points 1
kilometre apart.
Use
- Move the two pushpieces into the «open» position by
turning the wing-nuts a quarter of a turn downward. The
non-compressed seal position («open») is then indicated
by a red arrow (front view of watch).
- Reset the seconds hand by pressing the pushpiece at 4
o’clock to be ready to perform another measurement.
- At the starting point, press once on the pushpiece at 2
o’clock. The central seconds hand turns (the minute and
hour totaliser counters are also in operation but are not
used for tachometer measurement).
- At the point of arrival 1 kilometre away, press again the
pushpiece at 2 o’clock to stop the chronograph.
- Read the speed which is now indicated by the seconds
hand on the scale of the tachometer inner bezel ring.
- Move the pushpieces into the compressed seal position
(«closed») by turning the wing-nuts a quarter of a turn
upward, in the direction shown by the red arrow.
