5 OPERATION
GB-14
5.8 MOWING _________________________________________________________________
To mow:
1.
Disengage transport lock. Section 5.6.
2.
Start the engine and lower the mowers to the
ground. The lift cylinder must be fully extended for
the mowers to float properly.
Note:
To prevent damage to the reel and bedknife,
never operate reels when they are not cutting grass.
3.
Turn reel/3-WD switch to ON and disengage parking
brake.
4.
Move throttle lever to FAST then slowly depress
traction pedal to the desired mowing speed.
a.
For complete even cutting, overlap swaths by a
few inches.
b.
Stop and raise the mowers to the transport
position when crossing paths or roadways. Look
out for traffic.
5.
To remove or install the grass catchers, lower the
cutting units to the ground, engage the parking
brake, and shut off the engine. Tilt the grass catcher
body so the front edge clears the mower frame, and
slide the catcher onto or off the catcher frame.
5.9 TOWING / TRAILERING _____________________________________________________
If the tractor experiences problems and must be shut
down and removed from the area, it should be loaded
onto a trailer for transport. If a trailer is not available, the
unit can be towed slowly short distances.
NOTE:
Do not exceed 2 MPH (3.2 KPH) while towing.
Long distance towing is not recommended.
Use care when loading and unloading tractor. Fasten
tractor to trailer to prevent tractor from rolling or shifting
during transport.
Before towing, open tow valve. The tow valve permits
moving the tractor without starting the engine and
prevents possible damage to hydraulic components.
The tow valve is located on the drive pump beneath the
right hood. To open valve, loosen nuts (F) on screw (G).
Turn screw inwards to depress tow valve pin (H).
Close valve completely and replace cover after towing.

clothing away from cutting unit when the blades are

NEVER
use your hands to clean cutting units. Use a

can be sharp and could cause injuries.
To clear obstructions from cutting unit, disengage
power take-off, engage parking brake, stop engine
and remove key from ignition switch then remove
