Instruction Manual
iPort FS-2 Series Balanced Audio and Video Upgrade Kits
4. Before mounting or connecting the balanced audio
sender and receiver wallplates you must first set their
IR/RS-232 control switches (see
Figure 2, below).
For IR control, set the switches on BOTH wallplate PCBs
to the
IR position; for RS-232 control set the switches on
BOTH wallplate PCBs in the
RS-232 position.
NOTE: The balanced audio wallplates allow either
IR
OR
RS-232 control of the iPod. You must choose
one or the other.
5. As shown in
Figure 1, plug the Cat5 cable(s) you ran
through the walls into the RJ-45 jacks on the rears of
the sender and receiver wallplates. Install the
wallplates into the electrical boxes.
6. As shown in
Figure 1, connect the balanced audio and
balanced video sender wallplates to the iPort. The
balanced video sender wallplate can be connected via
component video, S-Video or composite video (see
Figure 3, below).
7. As shown in
Figure 1, connect the balanced audio and
balanced video receiver wallplates to the audio and
video systems. The balanced video receiver wallplate
must be connected via the same connection type used
on the sender wallplate (see
Figure 3).
8. Depending on which control mode you selected in
Step 4, connect the balanced audio sender wallplate to
the iPort and the receiver wallplate to either the IR
control system or the RS-232 control system, as shown
in
Figure 1.
NOTE: RJ-11 cables for RS-232 connections must be
wired straight-through (Pin 1 to Pin 1).
9. Each set of wallplates (audio and video) requires DC
power. Each includes its own DC power supply.
• If you are installing a single upgrade kit, plug its
power supply into the
Pwr connector on its receiver
wallplate.
• If you are installing balanced audio and balanced
video receiver wallplates in separate locations, plug
both power supplies included with the two kits to the
Pwr connectors on both receiver wallplates.
• If you are installing balanced audio and balanced video
receiver wallplates into the same dual-gang electrical box,
you can install a jumper wire (for example, a short length
of 16/2 speaker wire) between their
Aux Power
connectors. This allows all the audio and wideo wallplates
to share a single power supply (see
Figure 4, below).
Plug the power supply into either receiver wallplate.
10. Once you have confirmed that all the above connections
have been made properly, plug the Wallplate’s and
the iPort’s power supplies into wall outlets.
Fine-Tuning Video Quality After Installation
The balanced video receiver wallplate has two sets of
jumpers and potentiometers that can be used to fine-tune
video quality after the system has been installed and tested.
