5.4 Carrier Gas Connections
Micro GC Fusion supports up to two external carrier gas connections from pressurized
tanks for the 2-module chassis, and up to four external carrier gas connections for the
4-module chassis. Common carrier gases include: helium, hydrogen, argon, and
nitrogen. The selection of carrier gases is dependent on the analytical compounds,
sample matrix, and concentration.
Two 1/8 in. Swagelok carrier gas connectors are located on the back panel of the 2-
module chassis. Four 1/8 in. Swagelok carrier gas connectors are located on the back
panel of the 4-module chassis.
• When one carrier gas connector is configured, it supports the operation of all GC
modules
• When two carrier gas connectors are configured on the 2-module chassis, one will
support GC module A and the other will support GC module B
• For the 4-module chassis, the carrier gas connector can be configured with:
– One carrier gas connector for Modules A and B, one carrier gas connector for
Modules C and D. In this configuration, one carrier gas is shared by Modules A
and B. The other is shared by modules C and D.
– Two carrier gas connectors for Modules A and B, two carrier gas connectors
for Modules C and D. In this configuration, each module is configured with its
own carrier gas connector, allowing up to four carrier gas connections.
Use high purity carrier gas (99.999%) with an input pressure range of 400-427
kPa (58-62 psi).
