Operating the Griddle
Do not plug in the appliance until it is time to heat the unit and start the cooking
process. Do not leave it plugged in if it is not in use!
1. Position the griddle on a dry, level, heat-resistant surface. Your counter-top finish
or surface may be affected by heat. Do not place the griddle on any surface where
heat may cause a problem. Do not operate the griddle on a
finished
wood count-
er-top or table.
2. Make sure the removable drip tray is inserted into the griddle properly (see the
previous page). DO NOT OPERATE THE GRIDDLE WITHOUT THE DRIP TRAY IN
PLACE. Hot grease will spill onto the surface below, potentially causing damage or
injury.
3. Make sure the temperature control probe is unplugged and set to OFF. Insert the
into the side of the griddle, as seen on the previous page.
4. Plug the griddle into the wall outlet and rotate the dial to the desired temperature
setting (see the chart on the next page). Allow the griddle to preheat for approx-
imately 6 to 10 minutes. When it reaches the selected temperature, the power
light will turn off, but the unit is on and ready to cook food.
CAUTION
: THE GRILL AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE MACHINE WILL GET HOT
DURING COOKING AND PREHEATING.
5. Place the food on the griddle. Be careful not to overload it.
Note
: To maintain the correct temperature, the power light may cycle on and off
during cooking. This is normal.
6. Let the food cook. Follow the suggested cooking times for the recipe used.
7. Remove the food with a heat-proof plastic spatula or tongs. Do not use sharp ob-
jects or utensils. Do not cut food while it is on the griddle surface. This is unsafe
and bad for your griddle.
Be careful when removing cooked food from the griddle, AS IT WILL BE HOT.
8. When you are finished using the appliance, be sure to turn the temperature dial to
the OFF position and unplug the appliance from the wall!
