Wiring Recommendations
1.
IMO’s SIC connectors are constructed for use with 2.5-6mm
2
cross section cable.
2.
IMO recommend the use of tinned cables as oxidation of copper wire will increase the contact
resistance of the terminations.
3.
Using a suitable tool strip 6-7.5mm of insulation, taking care not to cut into any strands of the
cable.
4.
Using a suitable tool designed for the crimping of Solar Connector inserts, crimp the cable into the
appropriate male or female part (for the respective connector) then push this crimped part into the
respective plastic housing until it engages fully.
5.
Pull lightly, but firmly, on the lead to check that the metal insert has engaged.
6.
Screw the cable gland hand tight and then use a suitable to tool to tighten securely.
N.B. The tightening torque should be adapted to the solar cables used in each specific case. Typical
torque values lie in the range 2.5-3Nm.
Usage
1.
Plug the connectors together until they engage and check for satisfactory retention by pulling
firmly on the coupling
2.
To detach the coupling compress the two snap-in plastic springs, found either side of the
connector, with a suitable tool and separate the two connectors
