the channel signal is displayed in mono
ahead of the fader (15) and the control PAN
or BAL (10) via the level indication (43).
5) By means of the level indication (43) adjust
the input amplification in an optimum way:
For a mono channel adjust the control
TRIM (4) so that the level indication lights up
in the range 0 dB.
If a stereo channel is overloaded in spite of
button LEVEL (5) being disengaged, the level
of the signal source must be reduced. If the
level is too low, press the button LEVEL for
level boosting (12 dB).
6) Then adjust the sound for the channel with
the equalizer controls (6): HIGH = high fre-
quencies, MID = mid-frequencies, LOW =
bass frequencies. If required, press the but-
ton LOW CUT (3) in a mono channel to sup-
press low-frequent disturbing noise (e. g. sub-
sonic sound, humming).
Then check the level of the channel and
readjust the input amplification, if required.
7) Disengage the button SOLO (14) again
to switch off the monitoring function for
the channel. With the monitoring function
switched off, the LED CLIP (13) serves as an
overload indication by which the level of the
channel can coarsely be controlled. If it lights
up permanently, attenuate the input amplifi-
cation and / or turn back the equalizer controls.
8) When reproducing the signal via the speak-
ers and it is desired to only hear the presently
adjusted channel in each case, after level
adjustment of a channel reset its fader (15) to
minimum or for muting press its button MUTE
ALT 3 – 4 (11).
9) Repeat the steps 1) to 8) for all further input
channels.
5.3 Mixing audio sources
1) Define for each input channel with its routing
button MUTE ALT 3 – 4 (11) if it is switched
either to the main master channels MAIN MIX
or to the alternative master channels ALT 3 – 4.
If the master channels ALT 3 – 4 are not
used, the button can be used as a channel
muting button for the Main Mix.
→
To assign a channel to the master chan-
nels MAIN MIX, the button must be disen-
gaged. Then the channel cannot be heard
in the sum ALT 3 – 4.
→
To assign a channel to the master chan-
nels ALT 3 – 4, press the button. Then the
channel cannot be heard in the MAIN MIX
sum. Lighting up of the LED MUTE (12)
shows muting for the Main Mix.
2) Advance the faders of the master channels
used, MAIN MIX (45) or ALT 3 – 4 (31), so
that the mixing ratio of the audio sources can
be adjusted in an optimum way.
3) With the respective SOURCE button switch
the level indication (43) to the master chan-
nels used:
→
To indicate the output signal of the master
channels MAIN MIX, press the button
MAIN MIX (30)
→
To indicate the output signal of the master
channels ALT 3 – 4, press the button ALT
3 – 4 (29).
No button SOLO (14, 26) must be pressed so
that the level indication shows the output
signal selected with the button SOURCE
(
chapter 5.6).
4) Adjust the desired volume ratio of the audio
sources among each other with the channel
faders (15).
5) In the mono channels place the signals with
the panorama control PAN (10) in the stereo
sound.
Note:
In order to perceive the same volume of the
signal in the whole stereo panorama independently
of the position of the control PAN, the more the con-
trol is turned away from mid-position, the more the
level is boosted. For this reason, with the control at
the left stop / right stop, a level is displayed which is
by 4 dB higher compared to the level with the con-
trol in mid-position.
Use the balance control BAL (10) to adjust
the ratio Left / Right in the stereo channels. In
case of mono signal the control operates like
a panorama control.
To check the adjustment of panorama and
balance of a channel, the monitoring function
“SOLO” is provided
section a) in chap-
ter 5.6.
6) To adjust a monitor mix for stage and to add
effects, see chapter 5.4 or 5.5.
7) If audio sources are connected to the addi-
tional inputs, their signals can be added as
follows:
– The input signal of the jacks STEREO AUX
RETURN 1 (16) can separately be added
to the MAIN MIX sum and to the output
AUX SEND 1 (17) with the two controls
STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (35) and (36).
– The input signal of the jacks STEREO AUX
RETURN 2 (20) can be added with the
control STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (37),
depending on the routing button (38) either
to the MAIN MIX sum (button disengaged)
or the sum ALT 3 – 4 (button engaged).
– The input signal of the jacks CD / TAPE
INPUT (18) and of the USB jack (46) can
be switched to the MAIN MIX sum with the
button 2-TR / USB TO MAIN (40).
Please
note:
If this button is pressed, the jacks
CD / TAPE OUTPUT (19) and the USB jack
do not send an output signal.
8) The faders of the input channels not used
and the level controls of the additional inputs
not used should be set to minimum.
9) Adjust the definitive volume for the connected
speakers with the master faders MAIN MIX
(45) and the definitive level of the output sig-
nals ALT 3 – 4 OUTPUTS (53) with the faders
ALT 3 – 4 (31) by means of the level display.
In general, an optimum level is reached
at 0 dB. However, if the output level of the
powered mixer is too high or too low for the
following unit, the output signal must be
adjusted to a higher or lower level accord-
ingly. In case of overload the red LEDs CLIP
of the level display light up.
5.4 Adjusting the Aux send way
for monitoring
The monitor system for PA stage application
must be connected to the output AUX SEND 1
(17) of the Aux send way 1.
1) Press the button PRE (8) of the channels fed
to the monitor way to switch the signal pick-
up point for the monitor way to “pre-fader”.
2) Turn up the control AUX SEND 1 (25) for the
total volume of the monitor mix so that the
monitor signal can be heard well via the mon-
itor system.
3) Add the channel signals to the monitor way
with the controls AUX (7): Turn up the con-
trols depending on the desired volume ratio
of the channels.
4) Use the right control STEREO AUX RETURN 1
(36) to additionally add the input signal of the
jacks STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (16), e. g.
the Return signal of an effect unit, to the mon-
itor way.
5) Use the button SOLO (26) next to the control
AUX SEND 1 to monitor the monitor way via
headphones or a control room monitor sys-
tem and to check it via the level indication
(43)
section b) in chapter 5.6.
5.5 Adding effects
5.5.1 Internal effect processor
Via the internal multi-effect processor, 100 differ-
ent effects can be generated (e. g. Hall, Delay,
Chorus, Flanger, etc.) which can be assigned to
the master channels MAIN MIX or ALT 3 – 4 as
desired. The Aux send way 2 serves as the
effect way for the effect processor.
If the effect processor is used, the input
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (20) must not be
reserved because the left output and the right
output respectively of the effect processor are
muted when connecting both jacks.
1) The effect processor is switched on after
each setting into operation. Via a momentary
action foot pedal connected to the jack FX
FOOTSW (22) it can be switched on and off.
If it is switched off, a dot is shown next to the
effect number on the display (33).
2) To adjust an effect:
1. Find the number of the desired effect by
means of the effect overview printed on the
unit (
section
of fig. 1).
2. Turn the rotary switch PROGRAM (34)
back or forth until the number of the effect
is shown in a flashing way on the display
(33).
3. To confirm the selection, shortly press the
rotary switch PROGRAM (or actuate the
foot pedal). The number stops flashing, the
effect is adjusted.
3) To be able to hear the following effect adjust-
ments, set the controls AUX SEND 2 (27) and
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (37) approx. to
mid-position for the time being.
4) Use the routing button (38) to define if the
effect signal is to be assigned either to the
sum MAIN MIX (button disengaged) or to the
sum ALT 3 – 4 (button engaged).
5) Use the controls FX (9) to add the channel
signals to the effect way. With these controls
the desired effect intensity can be adjusted
separately for each channel.
6) Use the control AUX SEND 2 (27) to adjust
the level for the total signal of the effect way
which is sent to the input of the effect proces-
sor. If the effect processor is overloaded, the

gaged are certainly muted for ALT 3 – 4 but not for
the effect way so that their effect signals can be
heard in the sum signal ALT 3 – 4 if their controls
FX are turned up.
