Recalling
Standard and
Custom ARC
Presets
You can use the ARC Preset Recall parameter to recall and view standard and custom ARC
preset settings without changing the output image.
The ARC Preset Recall parameter will overwrite the following custom aspect ratio
parameters: ARC H Scale , ARC V Scale , ARC H Offset , and ARC V Offset . If you perform
an aspect ratio recall when ARC Preset Select is set to Custom , the output image aspect
ratio will revert to the recalled aspect ratio.
To recall a standard or custom ARC preset, make the following selections:
Overscan
Mode
You can use Overscan mode to select and discard a specified number of lines and columns
of pixels around the borders of the input image before upconversion. Enabling Overscan
mode prevents embedded data in the active picture region, such as closed captioning, from
being upconverted.
The active picture region for 525 standard starts on line 21 and ends at line 262. Therefore,
an overscan setting of 1 line implies that upconversion starts at line 22 and ends at line 261.
In addition to the two discarded lines, the first and last pixel of each remaining line in the
active picture region are discarded.
Before setting Overscan mode, you can determine if closed captioning is present in the
input video by viewing the
Input CC Present feedback parameter. You can then select the
lines of video you want Overscan mode to discard.
To set up Overscan mode, make the following selections:

Phasing
Using the output video phasing parameters, you can adjust the horizontal and vertical
phasing values of your output HD video. The range of the values that you can use for phase
adjustment depends on your output video standard.

vertical phasing for each output video standard
