INSTALLATION
Stand
Select a sturdy stand, preferably a heavy-duty steel stand, to locate the machine so the operating
handle can swing clear of the end of the stand. Securely bolt the machine to stand with bolts of suf-
ficient length, washers and nuts. Machine stand must be bolted on the floor. Place the machine clear
of obstructions to permit access to all sides.
Handle assembly
The handle (51) can be installed to either right or left end of the machine. Install the cover (66) over
the handle with two screws (33) and tighten the handle adjustment knob (12) to fix the handle in
required position. If needed, extend the handle further from the adjustment knob to obtain greater
torque.
SHEARING OPERATION
Shearing
1.
Install the stop assembly (48) in the holes in the cross beam die (70) and adjust the stop to re-
quired depth.
2.
Using the handle, raise the upper blade to the highest position.
3.
Slide the workpiece in between the moving blade and the table.
4.
Keep the workpiece against the guide block (53) on the right side of the table and against the
rear stop for a 90
°
cut.
5.
Rotate the handle (51) to shear the workpiece. Keep your fingers clear of the pressure plate (63).
Do not remove the pressure plate.
6.
The pressure plate should make contact with the sheet before the blade does. If it does not, ad-
just the two hex bolts (17) on the pressure plate brackets to lower the pressure plate.
Shear adjustment
To obtain optimum results, shear alignment and shear bow are two conditions which may need to be
adjusted depending on the thickness and type of material you want to shear. Shears that are out of
adjustment may lead to uneven or ragged cuts.
To correct shear alignment, proceed as follows:
1.
Lower the shear and hold it in position.
2.
Looking along the length of the blade, check the gap of the moving blade and the fixed blade
with a 0,05 mm (0,002”) feeler gauge.
-
If the gap is the same along the length of the blades, then no further adjustment is needed.
-
If the gap is unequal, proceed to step 3.
-
If you detect a bow in the gap, read the paragraph below on adjusting the shear bow.
3.
Loosen the two cap screws that hold the table in place.
4.
Turn the adjustment screws underneath the table until the gap is equal across the length of the
blades.
5.
Tighten the two table adjustment screws and re-check.
To adjust the shear bow, proceed as follows:
1.
Make small adjustments to the bolt (26) attached to the shear blade adjustment bar (47).
2.
Tighten the bolt to cause the ends of the upper blade to move away from the fixed blade or
loosen the bolt to cause the ends of the upper blade to move toward the fixed blade.
3.
Once the shear bow is corrected, re-check the shear gap.
