6. Leaky rotating swing joint- 3/4” water
When the reel is properly installed and maintained the rotating swing joint will have a
long life. Premature wear can occur if the joint is subjected to external strain from the
inlet connection. The connecting pipe must be flexible and should be fitted without
exerting any force on the rotating joint.
If the rotating joint should leak, replace the seals.
A self contained rotating swing joint is fitted externally. It can be serviced in-situ and can
be replaced without dismantling the hose reel.
6.1. Replacement of the rotating swing joint- 3/4” seal
Refer to IF-HR-300001-4-1.
Equipment needed: - external circlip pliers
- plug-Ø 2 mm, setting 7 - 20 mm
Seal:
- two nitril seals Nr. 0216.00T
Procedure: Empty co-axial hose. Disconnect the water hose from the rotating swing joint.
Remove the circlip and the washer from the end of the hose fitting and pull off the sleeve.
Remove the seals from the socket (pick them out with a sharp tool, but take care not to
scratch the bottom of the groove where the seals fits).
Wipe all the parts clean, fit new seals into the grooves and the socket to the hose fitting.
Fit the washer and re-mount the circlip. Fit the water hose to the rotating swing joint.
If leakage still occurs after replacing the seals, it is possible that the rotating joint is worn
and may need to be replaced. In this case please contact your local IFEX dealer or IFEX
Technologies GmbH Sittensen, Germany.
