Alphanumeric display

A message on the alphanumeric display always comprises 2 lines and starts in the first line with zone and detector
numbers, which are separated by a slash.

If several messages  of one level are present (alarm, fault; disabled), the upper part shows, in order of time, the first
message, and the lower part, the last message. When scrolling with the “further messages” keys, the next message
in the upper part is indicated. After 30 seconds without any actuation, the display is automatically reset to the first
and last messages.

Only messages of the alarm level are immediately shown on the LCD without any operator intervention. Messages of
the fault and disabled device levels are signalled by flashing common message LEDs and have to be called up with
the “indication level” key. The relevant LED lights up continuously to specify the selected level. If messages of the
fault or disabled device level are indicated, the display is automatically reset after 30 seconds, without any further
actuation of the FAT, to the alarm level (fire alarms present ) or to normal indication (no current fire alarms).

Indication of normal operation :

(no alarm message)

The LCD lighting is activated every time a key is pressed or by any new event. It goes out after approximately 30
seconds. The display remains illuminated if fire alarms are present.

Acoustic signaller

The acoustic signaller (Piezo buzzer) indicates alarms.  It is switched off by pressing the “Buzzer OFF / Test” key
(double function). Any new alarm message re-activates the buzzer.

Operating controls

The FAT has four keys for operation:

Two “Further Messages“ cursor keys to scroll the messages of one indication level

One “Level” key to change the indication level (LCD)

One “Buzzer OFF / Test” key (hold down key for 5 seconds

ð

 to trigger indication test)

Flashing LEDs in the keys signal that further information in the respective direction selected can be called up with this
key (e.g. scrolling the messages of one level).

The “level” key is used to change the indication level (alarm, fault, disabled). The change-over function is only active if
messages are present at the fault and / or disabled device levels.

The “Buzzer OFF / Test” key is used to acknowledge acoustic signals and to perform the indication test.

Indication test

Press the “Buzzer OFF / Test” key for more than 5 seconds to perform an indication test, which lasts at least 5
seconds or as long as the key is held down. During this test, all dots of the LCD matrix are controlled, all LEDs and
the LCD lighting are switched on and the buzzer is activated.

To set the time / date

Date and time are automatically transferred from the central fire detection device (BMZ)  and can be overwritten if
relevant messages are sent via the interface. Manual setting is also possible.

To enter the edit mode, press both cursor keys simultaneously with the panel in normal operation (no messages
indicated). The digit which flashes can be edited and changed with the cursor keys. Press the “indication level“ key to
select the next digit. The edited data will be overwritten if the time / date is transferred via the serial interface!

To leave the edit mode, press both cursor keys or the "indication level" key when reaching the end of the line.
