GENERAL DESCRIPTION
USE:
Read this before using the toaster, paying
particular attention to points 1 and 2.
1. Use the toaster once without any bread
inside. This heats the new elements and will
burn away any dust that may have collected
during storage.
2. Select the browning level you want by using
the browning control, which ranges from 1 to
7. The setting you need will depend on the
thickness of your bread and its moisture
content. You will produce the best results if
the slices are the same thickness, freshness
and size. Remember that old bread toasts
more quickly than freshly baked bread, and
that thin slices toast more quickly than thick
ones. See the sections later in the manual for
more information.
3. When you have chosen the browning setting,
put the bread into the toast slot and lower the
toasting lever until it clicks into place.
Note: The toasting level will only remain in the
downward position if the toaster is connected
to a functioning power source.
4. When the bread toasts to the set level, the
bread will pop up automatically. You can then
remove it from the slots. The lever will have
returned to the upper position and the heating
element will have switched off, so that the
toaster can be used again.
If the first slices were not toasted enough, you
can increase the browning level.
If the bread gets stuck in the toaster, unplug
the appliance. Let the toaster cool down and
then remove the bread.
When you are not using the toaster, switch it
off and unplug it. DO NOT WIND THE CORD
AROUND THE APPLIANCE DURING OR
AFTER USE.
USING THE CANCEL/STOP SETTING:
If you want to cancel the toasting cycle before
it is finished, press the Stop button.
USING THE BREAD LIFT:
If you are toasting small slices of bread, it
can be easier if you pick them up by lifting the
entire bread compartment using the lever.
USING THE DEFROST BUTTON:
If you are toasting frozen slices of bread, you
do not need to adjust the browning level. Put
the bread into the slot as normal, press the
lever down and press the button for frozen
bread.
The light next the the button will come on and
the toaster will automatically toast for a little
longer.
CRUMB TRAY:
Crumbs will collect in the crumb tray. If you
do not empty it regularly, these crumbs can
start to burn. When the toaster has cooled
down completely, carefully tap the sides of
the toaster to dislodge any crumbs that may
have got caught. Then remove the crumb
tray. Empty the tray and put it back in.
Never use the toaster without the crumb
tray.
