For the remainder it is the combination of the above savings plus the increased
value of the data and systems being managed by the z/VSE system as a result of
implementing the connector and/or Linux strategy.
It is important that a thorough assessment of not just the program products to be run on a
given configuration be undertaken but of the full hardware and software configuration in
order to determine the true amount of savings possible. The appendices contain tables
that may be used as a starting point for estimating the savings in environmental and
operational costs.
