Removing
the
system
board
To
remove
the
system
board,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
and
2.
Turn
off
the
server,
and
disconnect
all
power
cords
and
external
cables;
then,
remove
the
server
cover
(see
3.
Remove
the
riser-card
assembly
with
adapters,
and
place
them
on
a
static-protective
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
4.
(Hot-swap
model
only)
Remove
the
SAS/SATA
controller
(see
and
place
it
on
a
static-protective
surface
for
reinstallation.
5.
Remove
all
DIMMs,
and
place
them
on
a
static-protective
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
6.
Disconnect
all
cables
from
the
system
board.
7.
Remove
the
microprocessor
heat
exchanger
assembly
and
microprocessor;
then,
place
them
on
a
static-protective
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
8.
Note
the
orientation
of
the
microprocessor
retention
module.
9.
Unscrew
the
four
screws
that
hold
the
microprocessor
retention
module
to
the
system
board;
then,
lift
the
retention
module
out
of
the
server.
