Defining the Active directory
About this task
Continue using the Authentication setup wizard to set the parameters for Active
Directory authentication.
Procedure
1.
From the Welcome page of the Authentication setup wizard, click the Active
directory
authentication type and click Next. A warning message displays that
the Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers are configured with primary and
secondary addresses.
These settings can be modified using the ProtecTIER Service menu. Refer to
Changing the system date and time .
Note:
The system clock time can differ by no more that 5 minutes from the
clock time of the domain controller.
2.
Click Ok to exit the Warning message. The Domain window is displayed.
3.
Type a name for the domain in the Domain name: field. Click Next. The
Realm
window is displayed.
4.
The Realm allows user in one domain to access resources in another domain.
Type a name for the realm in the Realm name: field. Click Next. The Servers
window is displayed.
5.
Define the server credentials of the Active Directory:
a.
Type a username in the Accounts operator user name: field.
b.
Assign a password in the Password: field.
6.
Define the Active Directory server(s) IP addresses:
a.
Type the primary IP server address in the Primary active directory server
address:
field.
b.
(Optional) Type the secondary IP server address in the Secondary active
directory server address:
field.
Click Next. The WINS Servers window is displayed.
Note:
If CIFS clients are using NetBIOS, use the WINS Servers window to
map IP addresses to the system (NetBIOS) names. This allows access to
resources by system name, instead of by IP address. Configure additional
computers in your network using the WINS Server to keep track of the names
and IP addresses.
7.
(Optional) Select Configure WINS servers and enter the server addresses.
Click Next. The Users Mapping window is displayed.
8.
From the Users Mapping window, select one of the following:
v
RID
—RID uses a deterministic algorithm mapping scheme to map User
IDs, Group IDs, and SIDs. RID is used if mappings need to be identical
across multiple servers.
If you choose RID, continue to step 9 on page 80.
v
Schema Extension
—Used only if your Active Directory server uses
RFC2307 or SFU schema extensions for ID mappings.
Notes:
– RFC should be used when the operating system domain to be joined is a
Windows 2003 R2 or Windows 2008 system.
