What to do next
Once the operation is complete, go on to define and create replication policies (see
“Working with replication policies in FSI”), or continue working with replication
groups.
Working with replication policies in FSI
This topic describes how to work with replication policies in FSI.
When configuring FSI replication policies, objects can be selected on the source
repository to replicate at the directory level. All subdirectories and files contained
in the selected directory are replicated to a specific directory on the destination
repository which, in turn, can be used to recover and restore data to the source file
system. The specific directory on the destination repository within ProtecTIER is
known as a "replication destination directory". The replication destination directory
must be an empty directory under the root directory of the file system. Only
read-only shares can be created on a replication destination directory.
A replication destination directory is required for each replication policy. A policy
is a "rule" for replicating directories from one repository to another. On the source,
up to 64 directories can be selected per policy and up to 256 policies per source
repository are supported. A replication policy supports a source repository
replicating data to up to three different destination repositories. When replicating
to multiple destination repositories via a replication policy, each destination
repository must have a specific replication destination directory defined. A
replication destination directory cannot be replicated.
Note:
All tasks associated with the management of replication policies are online
operations and are performed without taking repositories offline.
Creating replication policies for FSI
This section describes how to create a replication policy by using the Create policy
wizard in ProtecTIER Manager for FSI.
Procedure
Follow the steps to create a replication policy on a system from which you want to
replicate data:
1.
From the Systems Management view, select a system in the dropdown list.
2.
Choose Replication > Replication Policy > Create replication policy. The
Create policy
wizard welcome is displayed.
3.
Click Next. The Properties window is displayed.
4.
Type a name for the policy in the Policy name field and click Next. The
Source directories
window is displayed.
