Modifying user access to the share
Migrating between authentication types can cause existing user definitions to be
inactive. As such, you can either:
v Create new shares
For further instructions, refer to “Creating a CIFS share on ProtecTIER” on page
82.
v Modify existing shares and activate Active Directory users
Follow the procedure below:
Procedure
Follow these steps to modify the properties, access and permissions of a CIFS
share:
1. From the Systems Management view, select an existing file system under the
File System
category in the navigation pane. Notice that the users defined on
the share for Workgroup authentication are inactive.
2. On the Overview tab, click on the defined share you want to modify from the
CIFS Shared Paths
list and click Modify share at the bottom of the CIFS
Shared Paths frame.
Note: Alternatively, select Modify share from the CIFS > Path Sharing menu.
The Modify share wizard is displayed.
3. Click on Users in the navigation pane to display the User permissions.
4. Click on the Allow checkbox to activate or deactivate user access to the shared
path. Users with deactivated user access cannot be associated with this share.
5. Assign the user permissions by selecting Write-enabled or Read only from the
Permissions
dropdown list.
6. Click Submit to save your modifications to the CIFS share.
Results
Once the file system view is refreshed, the Active Directory users are displayed.
The procedure is now complete.
