Power OFF the library by toggling the power supply switch on both supplies to
the OFF (O) position.
If the library is processing queued requests, wait for library to finish the current
library task and then turn OFF the power supply units.
Restoring the Library to Normal Operation after Repairs
1.
Power ON the library by toggling the power supply switch on both supplies to
the ON (|) position.
2.
If necessary, have the customer return all tape cartridges to the library.
3.
From the Operator Panel, run relevant diagnostic tests and check for errors.
4.
If necessary, take the library online.
Replacing a Library in a Rack
Removal Procedures
If it is necessary to remove a rack-mounted library from a rack, use the following
procedure where applicable:
1.
Log in to the library from the Operator Panel.
2.
Take the library offline. See “Taking the Library Offline/Online” on page 7-23.
3.
In the Operator Panel top menu, select
Unlock Magazine
, and press Enter.
4.
Select
All Magazines
, and press Enter.
5.
Remove and clearly label the cartridge magazines from the library.
6.
In the Operator Panel top menu, select
Commands
, and press Enter.
7.
Select
Prepare to Ship
, and press Enter. This moves the Accessor assembly to a
safe position ready for moving the library.
Note:
If the library is to be transported any distance, this move is necessary to
park the Accessor in the position where it can be secured by the shipping
pin.
8.
In the Operator Panel top menu, select
Logout
, and press Enter.
9.
On the rear panel of the library:
a.
Power OFF the library by toggling the power supply switch on both supplies
to the OFF (O) position.
b.
Disconnect the power cables from the library power supply units.
c.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Library Control Blade.
d.
Disconnect and clearly label the Fibre Channel host interface cables from the
tape drives.
e.
Remove the power supply units.
f.
Remove the Library Control Blade.
g.
Remove and clearly label the tape drives.
10.
On the front of the library, remove the rack-mount front bezels on each side of the
library.
11.
Unscrew the thumb screws securing the library in the rack.
12.
With a person standing on each side of the library, slide the library out of the
rack.
13.
Place the library on a sturdy work surface.
