Each SAN Volume Controller of a pair must be connected to a different UPS. Each
UPS can support up to two SAN Volume Controllers.
Attention: Do not connect two clusters to the same pair of uninterruptible power
supplies. Both clusters will be lost in the event that a power failure occurs on both
of those uninterruptible power supplies.
Note: You must install uninterruptible power supplies in pairs. There must be at
least two uninterruptible power supplies per cluster. A cluster can contain no
more than eight SAN Volume Controllers. Also, ensure that each UPS of a
pair is connected to a separate electrical input power source (if possible) to
reduce the chance of input power failure at both uninterruptible power
supplies.
Before you begin this task, refer to the customer’s cable connection table in the IBM
TotalStorage SAN Volume Controller: Planning Guide to identify the UPS to which
this SAN Volume Controller is to be connected.
Perform the following steps to connect the SAN Volume Controller to the UPS 5125:
1. At the back of the SAN Volume Controller, plug a power cable into the power
connector
