To attach SCSI devices to an external channel connector on the ServeRAID-4H
controller:
1. Connect one end of a 68-pin very high density connector interface (VHDCI)
SCSI cable to an external channel connector on the ServeRAID controller.
Note:
Refer to “ServeRAID-4H controller connector locations” on page 66 for
the channel connector locations.
2. Connect the other end of the SCSI cable to the external SCSI device.
3. Continue with “Updating BIOS and firmware code”.
Updating BIOS and firmware code
Before configuring the ServeRAID controller, you must have the latest BIOS and
firmware code installed on your appliance.
1. Attach a keyboard and monitor to the appliance.
2. Start a browser.
3. Go to
www.ibm.com/storage/support/nas
4. Select
BIOS and firmware code for the ServeRAID controller
.
5. Boot the diskettes as directed and follow the instructions on the screen.
6. Remove the diskette and reboot the appliance.
Configuring the ServeRAID Controller
Follow these instructions to configure a ServeRAID Controller:
1. Attach a keyboard and a monitor to the appliance; then, swich on the
appliance.
Note:
A ServeRAID BIOS message appears. If the BIOS detects a mismatch
in the configuration, it shows a status of Fail and prompts you to press
a function key to continue. Press
F10
to continue without changing the
configuration.
2. When prompted to start the Mini-Configuration Program, press
Ctrl-I
.
