Chapter 3. Upgrading the ProtecTIER software to version 3.3.2
from version 3.2.x using ProtecTIER Manager
This section describes the process for upgrading ProtecTIER servers to version 3.3.2
from version 3.2.x or higher using ProtecTIER Manager.
Important:
Ensure you install from DVD or download, the correct capacity version
code for your particular model to reduce incompatibility in later releases

Procedure
Check the version of ProtecTIER running on
each server to verify the servers are at
ProtecTIER version 3.1.8 or higher.
ProtecTIER Manager must be at version 3.3.2
or higher.

Upgrade ProtecTIER Manager to version
3.3.2, if necessary.
Obtain the correct ProtecTIER version 3.3.2
software package, either from your IBM
Sales Representative or by downloading it.
Contact your IBM Sales Representative to
order the

IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Appliance
Edition V3.3 DVD, or
v
IBM System Storage ProtecTIER
Enterprise Edition V3.3 DVD, or

how to download ProtecTIER software
and fixes.
Upgrade ProtecTIER 3.1.8 or higher to
version 3.3.2 using ProtecTIER Manager
version 3.3.2.
Checking the ProtecTIER version for servers at ProtecTIER version
3.2.x or higher
Check the ProtecTIER version on servers at ProtecTIER version 3.2.x or higher.
Procedure
Perform this procedure on each server for which you need version information.
Make note of the ProtecTIER version for each server to verify that the fix update
you are applying is a later version of ProtecTIER than the version currently
installed.

Log in to the server on which you are performing the update. At the login
prompt, log in with the ID
ptconfig
and the password
ptconfig
.

The ProtecTIER Service main menu is displayed.
