4.

Perform one of the following steps depending on your configuration:

v

For 10/100/1000 setup in 7-Mode: Connect the management port from the system to the network,
using an Ethernet cable (Figure 15).

v

For 10 GbE setup in 7-Mode: Connect the management port (

2

in Figure 12 on page 8) from the

system to the management switch (

4

in Figure 12 on page 8).

v

For 10/100/1000 setup in switchless Clustered Data ONTAP: Connect the management port (

2

in

Figure 13 on page 8 and Figure 14) to the management network switch.

Important:

The network for the management port must negotiate down to 10/100 or auto-negotiate.

5.

Perform the following step if you have a 10/100/1000 setup in switchless Clustered Data ONTAP
with two controllers in one chassis:

v

Connect port e1a in the first controller to port e1a in the second controller, and connect port e1b in
the first controller to port e1b in the second controller (

3

in Figure 13 on page 8).

Connecting the system to expansion units

Multipath storage for high availability configurations provides redundancy for the path from each
controller to every storage expansion unit in the configuration.

For detailed information about cabling N series SAS storage expansion units, such as the EXN3000 or
EXN3500, refer to the

IBM System Storage N series Universal SAS and ACP Cabling Guide

. The SAS ports

and ACP ports on the SAS storage expansion unit IOMs are designated by square and circle symbols. All
cabling is done in reference to connecting to either square or circle ports. SAS connectivity does not use
the concept of In and Out ports.

v

If you are making SAS connections to N series storage expansion units and you plan to use Alternate
Control Path (ACP) cabling, connect the N3220 system private management port (with the

icon) to

an ACP port on the SAS stack using a CAT6 Ethernet cable (Figure 11 on page 7).
