If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, go to
“Completing the installation” on page 36.
Installing the dual-port network adapter
You can configure network adapters in the Setup utility (see “Starting the Setup
utility” on page 42).
For details, see the information about network connection problems in the
Problem
Determination and Service Guide
.
Note:
One of the two Infinite Band Mezzanine adapter ports is used to connect to
an Infinite Band core switch. The other port on the adapter is unused.
To install the network adapter, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and “Installation guidelines”
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the system-board tray cover” on page 27).
4. Remove the adapter filler panel on the rear of the chassis (if it has not been
removed already).
5. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new adapter to any
unpainted metal surface on the server. Then, remove the adapter from the
package.
6. Align the adapter so that the port connectors on the adapter line up with the pin
and thumbscrew on the chassis; then, tilt and slide the adapter so the port
connectors on the adapter and the network adapter connector on the planar are
aligned.
