Server canister orientation for inserting or removing DIMMs
The following Figure 8 on page 24 shows the CPU and the location of the DIMM slots. It shows one of
the two server canisters for an IBM Elastic Storage System 3000 (5141-AF8), which is open and oriented
for DIMM removal and replacement.

In the Figure 8 on page 24 figure, the server canister chassis is oriented with the three PCIe HBAs in card
risers to the right (rear). Three fan modules to the left sit atop the NVMe-attached Flash drives at the front
of the server canister.
In the Figure 8 on page 24,

indicates the front of the I/O server canister and

indicates the rear of the
I/O server canister.
The following figure shows a proper orientation for the server canister that an IBM SSR would use to
remove or replace a DIMM because it shows the labels in a way they are easily read.
