Using
the
TSM
API
test
program
The
TSM
client
API
provides
a
program
called
dapismp.
This
menu-driven
program
can
test
the
functionality
of
the
DRP
server.
It
allows
you
to:
v
Archive
objects
(files)
v
Retrieve
objects
v
Set
deletion
hold
v
Issue
a
Event
which
causes
Event
based
retention
v
Query
objects
The
dapismp
program
does
not
archive
actual
files.
When
you
select
archive
you
specify
seed
string
and
size
and
then
dapismp
creates
object’s
content
based
on
these
parameters
in
memory.
When
the
object
is
then
retrieved
from
the
server
it
is
retrieved
to
the
internal
memory
and
not
to
a
file
on
disk.
Attention:
Do
not
use
this
program
in
policy
domains
with
production
data.
It
is
recommended
to
create
a
separate
policy
domain
with
node
registered
for
it.
This
node
should
be
exclusively
used
by
the
test
program.
The
execution
of
the
program
requires
an
option
file
in
the
directory
of
the
program
file
dapismp.
See
for
an
example.
The
TCPSERVERADDRESS
is
the
address
of
the
DR550.
The
statement
ENABLEARCHIVERETENTIONPROTECTION
yes
is
required.
The
parameters
Traceflag
and
tracefile
are
optional
and
allow
tracing
of
the
TSM
API
client.
The
TSM
API
can
be
obtained
at:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-
management/patches/client/.
Once
installed
it
unpacks
the
dapismp
program
in
the
path
for
the
API:

For
Windows:
...\TSM\api\samprun
v
For
UNIX:
../client/api/bin/samples
Note:
If
this
program
is
not
available
in
a
compiled
version,
you
have
to
compile
it
or
get
a
compiled
version.
For
a
windows
platform
you
can
obtain
the
compiled
version
by
executing
a
customized
install
and
selecting
all
TSM
API
modules
for
installation.
Start
the
program,
for
example,
...\TSM\api\samprun\dapismp.
