6. In an IVM session, validate that the code entry is successful using the
lsvet -t
hist
command.
The command returns information that is similar to the following example:
time_stamp=03/06/2008 16:25:08,"entry=[VIOSI05000400-0331] CoD advanced
functions activation code entered, resource ID: CA1F, capabilities: 2820."
time_stamp=03/06/2008 16:25:08,entry=[VIOSI05000403-0332] Virtual I/O server
capability enabled.
time_stamp=03/06/2008 16:25:08,entry=[VIOSI05000405-0333] Micro-partitioning
capability enabled.
This procedure is now complete. The procedure does not require you to reboot
the blade server to activate the PowerVM Editions virtualization functions.
Note:
If you do intend to reboot the blade server after completing this procedure,
wait at least five minutes before you reboot, or before you power off and power on
the blade server, to ensure that the activation code is stored in the vital product
data on the management card.
Removing and installing an I/O expansion card
Add an I/O expansion card to the blade server to provide additional connections
for communicating on a network.
The blade server supports various types of I/O expansion cards, including Gigabit
Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and Myrinet expansion cards.
Verify that any expansion card that you are using is listed on the ServerProven
Web site in the list of supported expansion cards for the JS12 blade server. For
example, the following expansion cards are not supported by the JS12 blade server:

Cisco 1X InfiniBand
v
Qlogic 4Gb SFF Fibre Channel Expansion card
