Chapter 1. Introducing the IBM Anyplace Kiosk
The IBM Anyplace Kiosk (see Figure 1) is a comprehensive and compact, touch
screen terminal for self-service applications. The rugged aspect of the 4836 makes
the product suitable for a wide variety of uses, such as retrieving information,
listening to music, or watching multi-media presentations.

Architecture and attributes
The IBM Anyplace Kiosk uses standard mobile technology within the design of a
customer service terminal. The typical configuration does not contain a keyboard or
mouse because all input is through the touch screen.
The IBM 4836 contains the following key attributes:

Gigabtyes maximum memory

by IBM specifically for use with the Anyplace kiosk.
