Chapter 4. Installing
This section covers how to install, configure, set IP addresses, and VLAN tag.
The Service Support Representatives (SSR) can refer to ESS Install Complete Guide to perform a
hardware checkout and to set the management interface IP, BMC interface IP, and VLAN tag.

Note: Much of the information in this section is intended only for IBM authorized service providers.
Customers need to consult the terms of their warranty to determine the extent to which they must
attempt any IBM Elastic Storage System maintenance.

2. If the target rack contains hardware, it is necessary to work with the customer to identify the target
locations for other hardware.

• If necessary, remove the filler panels to access the inside of the rack enclosure where you plan to place
the EIA units for this activity.
• For each server, identify and mark EIA locations for each pair of rails for the servers to be installed, left
