Part 1: Quick Installation Guide
This guide contains installation instructions in an abbreviated form. If
you are knowledgeable about IDE products and experienced in
installing options, use these instructions to quickly install your tape
drive. For a description of the tape drive and more detailed
installation instructions, go to “Part 2: User's Guide” on page 2-1.
In addition to this manual, this option package contains:
Internal model of the tape drive
5.25-inch mounting kit
One Imation or IBM TR-5 formatted data cartridge
Tape software CD
Mounting screws
Various bezels
IDE cable
Safety Information
Contact your place of purchase if any item is missing or damaged.
Important: Be sure to retain your proof of purchase because it might
be required to receive warranty service.
Installing the Enhanced IDE drive
Follow these instructions to install the Enhanced IDE tape drive:
1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cables from the
power outlet for the computer and all attached peripherals.
2. Open the computer.
3. Touch the static-protective bag containing the tape drive to an
unpainted metal surface on the computer for at least 2 seconds.
Remove the drive from the static-protective bag, holding the drive
by the edges, and place it on the bag.
4. Refer to the bottom view of the tape drive to locate the IDE
configuration block and how to set a position ON (A) or OFF
(B).
