(3) Evacuation
After completing the charge of solution, refrigerant and alcohol, operate the purge pump to
purge air out of the chiller-heater.
(4) Discharge of solution and refrigerant in the chiller-heater
When solution must be discharged from the machine for some reason, it is easily discharged
by opening the service valve for discharge as the discharge pressure of the solution pump is
higher than the atmospheric pressure while the chiller-heater is operating as long as the
pump is operating. Further, in case of discharging solution, be sure to check if the discharge
pressure is higher than the atmospheric pressure prior to discharging. In case of discharging
refrigerant, as the discharge pressure of the refrigerant pump is lower than the atmospheric
pressure, provide a vacuum vessel separately and connect it with the service valve for
discharge. And then open the service valve for discharge to discharge refrigerant after
checking if the vessel is vacuumed.
If solution or refrigerant must be discharged while the chiller-heater is not operating, discharge
it in the following procedure:
1) As show in Fig. 4.2, connect a flask with the purge system with a rubber hose for vacuum.
Check if the manual purge valve is closed.
2) In order to vacuum the flask and the rubber hose line operate the purge pump for about 10
minutes so as to be in lower pressure than that in the chiller-heater and the then confirm
by manometer if the rubber hose line is surely vacuumed.
3) When the discharge is completed, close the service valve of the chiller-heater and stop the
purge pump.
4) Restoring the purge system after taping the plug for sealing end of the purge pipe start the
purge pump once more and open the gas ballast valve to oil for more than 10minutes.
