4.10.4 Intake system
We do not recommend making modifications to the engine intake system. If the
changes are strictly necessary, HMC should be contacted, to obtain a certificate of
conformity. The effect on the engine operation and fuel consumption must be de
-
termined.
The following must also be observed:
- Air inlets must not be altered by reducing their section. These are calculated to
meet the performance of the standard engines installed in each case.
- The air inlets should be installed in a position where the minimum possible water
and dust are absorbed.
- Do not modify or change the air filter.
- Do not change the position of the humidity sensor.
- The air intake must be protected from the emission of hot air from other com
-
ponents that are installed in the vehicle.
- The shield guards to protect against the aspiration of cigarette butts and other
sediments must not be replaced or removed.
- Once the work has been carried out, it will be necessary to measure the back
pressures in the intake system, to ensure that they are within the permissible
limits.
- The inlet air ducts must be kept clear, and the filters must be changed accord
-
ing to the technical sheet of the vehicle.
