NOTE:
Make sure the total shim thickness for each
side is the same for each set of side rollers. Equal
shim thickness will keep the clearance equal between
the carriage and mast weldment on both sides.

Install the carriage. See Carriage Assembly, Re-
move and Install.
ADJUST THRUST ROLLERS - CARRIAGE
1.
Measure the width between the outside edges of
the inner weldment in several places. See Fig-
ure 28. Make a note of the location and the value
of the maximum measurement.
2.
Measure and record the distance between the in-
side faces of the thrust rollers of the carriage as-
sembly. See B of Figure 29.
3.
If distance B is more than 4 mm less than
the maximum measurement of Step 1, install
smaller size thrust rollers. If distance B is more
than 4 mm greater than the maximum measure-
ment of Step 1, install larger size thrust rollers.
Install the same size rollers on each side for a
minimum clearance at the maximum measure-
ment point (Step 1). Thrust rollers have outside
diameters of 74, 76, or 78 mm.
