For damage or defects to the product that are the re-
sult of unprofessional service and/or repair, including
any consequential damage that may arise, we disclaim
any warranty and liability.
When serviced, the unit is upgraded automatically to the
technical specifications of the product at the moment it is
serviced, and we grant a three-month functional warranty
on the serviced unit.
We recommend having the product serviced at least every
twelve months.
Any provisions in the law pertaining to an electrical safety
inspection have to be complied with.
3.2
Transport, Storage, Shipment
The product ships in its case in a cardboard box. Its case pro-
tects the product from humidity and environmental agents.
Whenever it is not used and to forward it, keep the case of
the product closed.

Principles of Operation
The HCU 300 allows welding electrofusion fittings that fea-
ture a bar code. Every fitting is provided with a tag with one
or two bar codes on it. The structure of this code is interna-
tionally standardized. The first code, encoding the data on
proper welding, complies with ISO 13950, the second code,
if present, encoding the component traceability data, com-
plies with ISO 12176-4.
The welding control program supports certain of the ex-
tended traceability data encoded under the ISO 12176-4
standard, e.g., the fitting traceability code. To use this fea-
ture, the desired data have to be enabled in the configura-
tion menu, at “Recording” (see Sect. 10.2).
The welding parameters can also be entered manually. The
microprocessor-controlled HCU 300 Welding Unit
• controls and monitors the welding process in a fully au

tomated fashion,
• determines welding duration depending on ambient
temperature,
• shows all information on the display in plain text.
All data that are relevant for the weld or for traceability are
saved to the internal memory and can be sent to a USB stick.
