Instrument Set-up
1. Connect power lead (socket on rear panel) & switch unit on (switch above power socket)
2. Check the following: – refer to instructions for use to adjust
a. Displayed date & time correct
b.Sufficient paper in tray – push tray in firmly on both sides to latch closed
c. Chart speed setting correct (shown on display)
d.To change system settings see ‘Chage system settings’ below
3. Connect the transducers – note plug/socket colour coding.
Patient / trace Set-up
1. Position transducers & secure with belts
a. Ensure sufficient & correct type of gel is used (U/S transducer ONLY).
b.Adjust U/S transducer position for clear fetal heart sounds - avoid using umbilical artery
signal for best pick-up
c. TWINS monitoring – use left & right soft keys under the screen to select
FHR1 or FHR2 audio
d.Press the ‘Contractions Zero’ key – sets base line to +20
2. To start or stop printing, press the Printer On/Off key.
The yellow LED lights when the printer is running.
Change system settings
1. Switch printer OFF
2. Press
Menu
key (to left of screen)
3. Use
Volume Up/Down
keys to select function
4. Change function settings using soft-keys below screen as indicated
5. Press
Menu
key to exit
6. Use soft-keys to save changes or quit as indicated
Trouble-shooting
1. Poor FHR trace
a. Adjust U/S transducer position for clear heart sounds – avoid using umbilical artery
blood flow signal.
b.Check sufficient gel present on U/S transducer face
2. Poor contractions trace
a. If baseline is off the bottom of the chart, check belt tension & re-zero
b.If poor registration, adjust transducer position
3. Refer to instructions for use for further fault-finding assistance.
