6. Ensure that both Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address automatically
options are
selected. If not, select them.
7. Select OK to close the open dialog boxes and finish the
configuration.
8. Restart the computer even if Windows does not require you to
do so. This ensures the network settings are automatically
reset.
Configuring a
MacIntosh for a static IP
address
Follow the steps below to configure a terminal with a static IP
address on a MacIntosh system.
1. Select
System Preferences
from the Mac interface. The
Systems Preference menu appears.
2. Select the Network icon, which is circled in Figure 49. The
Network screen shown in Figure 50 appears.
