MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Use a dry or damp cloth only to clean the product; do not use special cleaning agents! Check the

product for damage or traces of wear and tear before and after each use. Do not make any struc-

tural changes. For your own safety, please use original spare parts only. These can be sourced from

HUDORA. If parts become damaged or if sharp edges or corners should develop, the product may

not be used any more. If in any doubt, please contact our service team (http://www.hudora.de/

service/). Store the product in a safe place where it is protected from the elements, cannot be

damaged, and cannot injure anyone.

Wear and tear calls for regular maintenance and servicing. Worn-out stoppers, wheels, steering

buffers or bearings are easily replaced. You should not undertake any changes to your roller skates

as the safety may be compromised. The self-checking effect of the self-securing nuts or axes is

reduced after repeated loosening and tightening of the links. Sharp edges resulting from usage

should be removed as soon as possible. Regular checks, maintenance and servicing increase the

safety and the life span of your roller skates.

CHANGING THE ROLLERS

Rollers are available as accessories. Please remember to remove the bearings from the old rollers

and reuse them on the new ones. Change the rollers by loosening the wheel nuts, removing the old

rollers and putting the new rollers (either with new ball bearings or with their old ball bearings) on

the axle and screwing on the wheel nut again, ensuring that the self-locking ring of the wheel nut

is fully seated on the axle. Do not damage the self-locking protection of the wheel nut. For safety

reasons, we recommend the use of self-locking nuts.

STEERING ADJUSTMENT

The tractability of the roller skates can be adjusted by loosening and tightening the center bolts.

Warning: Do not over loosen the center bolts or else there’s a risk that the wheels may come into

contact with the chassis. After making an adjustment, it is best to go on a few trial runs first.

ROLLER BEARINGS

Your roller skates are fitted with precision bearings which are filled with grease under high-pres-

sure during the manufacturing process. The skate will therefore run smoothly and quickly only

when under load. Due to being a closed system, the bearings do not have to be re-greased.

Clean the ball bearings with a dry cloth as and when required. Ball bearings on the skate must be

rubbed with a dry cloth immediately if they get wet or damp. Worn ball bearings must be replaced.

To do this, loosen the roller from the chassis and remove the ball bearing using a screwdriver (be

careful not to damage the spacer sleeve inserted within the rollers between the two ball bearings).

At the end of the cleaning routine or when replacing ball bearings, first push a ball bearing into the

roller and rotate the roller and insert the distance sleeve. Then push the second ball bearing into

the roller too.

REPLACING AND/OR ADJUSTING THE STOPPER

Stoppers will wear over time. If a stopper is completely worn out, loosen it from the chassis using

the keys. Correctly insert the new stopper. Do not damage the self-locking action of the stopper

screw. For safety reasons, we recommend you use self-locking nuts only once. There must be a

clearance of at least 10 mm between the bottom edge of the stopper and the road surface. Any

repairs or adjustments to your roller skates should be done with the help of an adult.

BATTERIES

Never try to charge non-rechargeable batteries. If attempts are made to charge this type of batte-

ry, they may not only run out but also explode, which may lead to destruction, the risk of fire and

not least to injuries. Only use the batteries specified above for the product.

DISPOSAL ADVICE

At the end of the product’s life, please dispose of it at an appropriate collection point provided in

your area. Local waste management companies will be able to answer your questions on this.

Caution: Used batteries and switching units/electrical and electronic parts must not be

discarded in the house waste in order to protect the environment. By the means of an

environmentally friendly disposal, valuable raw materials can be recovered. Return of

old batteries is therefore mandatory by law. After use batteries can be disposed of free

of charge at any point of sale or existing collections centres. All switching units must

be removed from the product and must also be disposed of separately. The symbol

with the crossed-out bin indicates this.

To remove the electronics, release them from their elastic anchorage in the shoe tongue. Cut the

cables with pliers or scissors. Please remove empty batteries from the product and dispose of

them and the electronics separately and in an environmentally friendly manner.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

•   As is the case with many comparable sports, roller skating is a sport with a relatively high risk

of physical injury. As a matter of principle, you should wear full protective equipment.

•  Never use the product without a helmet and hand/wrist, elbow and knee pads.

•   We recommend the use of reflective materials. We must point out, however, that even full

protective equipment cannot provide 100% protection.

•  Always be alert and careful when roller skating.

•   Use your skates only on suitable surfaces that are smooth, clean, dry and largely free of other

road users.

•   Always respect other road users and remember that the Road Traffic Act imposes restrictions

for roller skaters.

•   Before you start: Check all connections and locking parts for correct fit and check the steering

setting.

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

FUNCTIONING OF THE LED-ILLUMINATION

The sole of both roller skates has an LED effect lighting, which can be activated by a pressure

switch in the shoe tongue. Pressing the On/Off logo once activates the continuous light function,

pressing it twice activates the flashing function and pressing it again switches the lighting off. To

conserve battery power and extend battery life during use, turn off the lights when not in use. The

lighting in the rollers activates automatically as soon as the rollers start to move. To use the LED

effect lighting, 1 x CR2032 battery is required per roller skate. The batteries are included and only

need to be activated. To do this, remove the protective film between the battery and the electronics

in the shoe tongue.

DRIVING METHODS

Adapt your speed to your skills. Before you adopt an aggressive skating style, learn how to glide,

corner and brake. Avoid steep terrain and also slippery, dusty, stony and wet surfaces. Keep your

body weight forwards.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS

1.   Practise certain important skills on an old carpet at home before progressing to tarmac. Accept

help and advice from others. Walk a few steps on the front stopper, in order to familiarise

yourself with this part of your roller skates that may feel strange to your feet. The better you

master this step, the easier you will find it later on to skate and brake.

2.   Now practise on clean, even tarmac. Stand upright on your roller skates with your feet about a

hand’s width apart. Your bodyweight should be over the balls of your feet. Novice skaters often

make the mistake of standing upright with their knees stiff and their weight over the heels.

3.   Avoid steep descents, busy roads and difficult terrain. Adapt your speed to the descent and the

terrain, keeping your level of expertise in mind.

4.   Next, you should learn how to corner. Your skate is built so that the axles are steerable. Shift

your weight to one side and your skates will follow in this direction. Use your hip and your knee.

Now try the same technique as you skate. Learn how to brake.

5.   Starting off is always difficult and most of a novice’s accidents happen in the first ten minutes.

You should exercise extreme caution during this early learning phase!

FRONT-STOP

Brake blocks are mounted to the front of both skates. These grind to produce a braking effect.

Practise this technique over and over again, so that you can stop in any situation.

DISCO-STOP

Experienced skaters pirouette shortly before braking. This helps them achieve a better braking

action backwards with the front stoppers. This technique, however, is recommended only if you

have the necessary experience.
