Verify that a ¼-inch minimum air gap exists between the base of the tower and the top of the concrete 
pier (see Figure 7)

OTE

:

  The air gap must not be obstructed with soil, mulch, stone, etc.  Failure to maintain the air gap 

will cause moisture entrapment that will result in corrosion.
