4.18 Setting Up the Connection Between the AS and the
VIS6000
This section introduces the procedure for setting up the connection between the AS and the
VIS6000.

When the AS is connected to the VIS6000 through an FC interface, you do not need to carry out any
configuration on the AS.
The following part introduces the methods for viewing WWNs on Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and
HP-UX ASs.

Windows Server 2003 AS
qlogic HBA is used. View the WWN through the SANsurfer software provided by the qlogic.
l
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server9 (SLES9) Service Pack3 (SP3 ) AS
qlogic HBA is used. View the WWN through the /proc/scsi/qlaxxxx/x of the proc interface of the
qlogic drive.

Solaris10 AS
View the WWN through the
fcinfo hba-port
command.

AIX5.2 AS
View the WWN through the
fcstat Device_name
command.
l
HP-UX 11iv2 AS
View the WWN through the
fcmsutil /dev/fcd0
command.

When the AS is connected to the VIS6000 through an iSCSI interface, you need to log in to the AS to
set related parameters, after configuring the GE service port. For details, see the following section.
After being configured properly, a Windows AS can connect to and access data on the VIS6000.
After being configured properly, a Linux AS can connect to and access data on the VIS6000.
After being configured properly, a Solaris AS can connect to and access data on the VIS6000.
After being configured properly, an AIX AS can connect to and access data on the VIS6000.
After being configured properly, an HP-UX AS can connect to and access data on the VIS6000.
