1.1 Configuration Introduction

This section introduces the ISM and the initial configuration procedure for the VIS6000.

The VIS6000 can be managed on the graphical user interface (GUI) or the command line
interface (CLI). This document uses the management on the GUI as an example.

1.1.1 Introduction to the ISM

This section introduces the ISM, the management software of the VIS6000.

1.1.2 Initial Configuration Procedure

Initial Configuration of a storage device is the basis for running services. This document
introduces the initial configuration process of the VIS6000 in detail.

1.1.1 Introduction to the ISM

This section introduces the ISM, the management software of the VIS6000.

The VIS6000 is configured, managed, and maintained through the ISM.

The ISM is platform software that manages storage devices. Based on the Storage Management
Initiative Specification (SMI-S) protocol, the ISM is a management platform for storage devices
and can manage multiple storage devices.

The ISM communicates with the controllers of storage devices through management network
ports and provides management in GUI mode. Through the Java Web Start (JWS) technology,
the ISM enables users to easily configure, manage, and maintain storage devices.
