The RAID controller card, SAS expander, and SAS/SATA/NVMe drive backplane
constitute a storage module, which connects to the processors through PCIe
buses.

The RAID controller card provides eight SAS or SATA ports and uses the SAS
expander to expand I/O ports. Four ports are connected to the SAS/SATA/M.2
drive backplane, and the other 12 ports are connected to the SAS/SATA/NVMe
backplane. The SAS/SATA HDDs and SSDs are supported.

The features provided by the RAID controller card vary depending on the type
of the RAID controller card. The drive backplane only provides physical
channels and does not process data of the drives.

The BMC provides device management functions, such as compute node
power control, slot number acquisition, PSU detection, and KVM over IP.
