signals (38.388MHz). The clock module sends 2-channel 2.048MHz or 2.048Mbit/s
synchronization clock signals to lower-level equipment as it receives the 2.048MHz or
2.048Mbit/s clock reference.
z
Monitor the running status of the system.
MPU collects the running data of units periodically and generates the control information,
including detecting whether boards are in position, controlling the running status of the
switching network and speeding up fans.
z
Manage and maintain equipment.
z
Configure data:
MPU is a storage place for system configuration data, boot files, billing information, upgraded
software and system running logs. Providing an interface for the CF card, MPU also functions
as a storage device to store data files.
z
Ensure reliability:
MPU works in the 1+1 backup mode. Active and standby MPUs monitor each other. The
standby MPU takes over services when the active one gets faulty. MPU, clock module and LAN
Switch module are all designed with 1+1 hot backup, which enhances the system reliability.
Specifications
Currently the NE80E provides one type of MPU: CR52-MPUA. CR52-MPUA provides multiple
external interfaces whose specification and functions are described in the table below.
